Romulan

Strain Name: Romulan

Grade: A++

Type: 100% Indica

Looks: Thick heavy buds, generously coated in resin. Light green with lots of orange hairs. While growing this was a gorgeous plant. Very high calyx to leaf ratio with four massive main colas. Red petioles and classic dark green wide fingered indica leaves.

Smell: The best way I can describe it is like lemon incense. Very spicy and fruity, with a peppery finish.

Taste: Lemony on the inhale, spicy and hashy on the exhale.

Effects: This shit will melt your face! There is a reason this strain is legendary here in Canada (and all over the world). This is the most potent and powerful indica I have ever smoked. Two hits is plenty, three hits and I’m gone. The effects are very much body-centric, and quite creeper. You feel nothing for the first 10 minutes, and then it feels like your face is expanding and your entire head starts to pulsate. It’s a very unique, and really cool feeling that I have never felt in any other strain. The head effects melt into a full body narcotic stone, that usually puts me to sleep after about an hour and a half. If I manage to stay awake, it gives me major appetite stimulation. This is EXCELLENT for any gastrointestinal issues.

Potency: Very, very potent. Be careful with this one, it can be a total day-wrecker. Total narcotic stone.

Grower’s Notes: This is a legendary strain here in western Canada, and for good reason. Not only is it powerful, but it’s very easy to grow, it stays quite squat, but very bushy. Yield is excellent, and trimming is a breeze. Top it once, and you’ll get anywhere from four to six main colas that swell right until the end. Very fruity and spicy smelling. Can’t say enough good things about this one. If you’re lucky enough to come across a sample, pick it up. If you are a grower, grab your seeds from Next Generation Seeds from Canada. 100% germination, 90% females, extremely uniform growth in all plants. Very stable. I was very happy with these seeds.

northern lights

Strain Name: Northern Lights

Breeder: Peak Seeds

Grade: A+

Type: Indica

Looks: Dense, smallish, popcorn sized nuggets. Bright green with dark orange hairs, and heavily frosted.

Smell: During flowering smell was quite acrid, with an almost chemical scent of ammonia. After curing for 4 weeks, the chemical smell vanished and was replaced by a wonderful classic skunk scent. The strongest skunk smell of any strains I’ve grown (which I absolutely love). Breeder’s notes said this was not a strong smelling strain, which was totally false (at least with this particular pheno).

Taste: Not much in the taste department, just typical earthy taste, with hints of lemon on the first couple puffs.

Effects: Very much a body stone, almost entirely felt in the chest, and legs. Very mellow, no racy or cerebral effects. This strain works wonders for my nausea and stomach pain, and provides a very nice muscle relaxant effect. Legs get a little jelly-like after a few hits, and it makes me feel quite weak due to the potent muscle relaxation. This is a perfect night time strain for me, and ticks all the important boxes: helps me sleep, no raciness or paranoia (I suffer from panic attacks, so this is important), gives me a great appetite boost, relaxes my muscles, and helps me sleep.

Potency: Medicinally, it’s very potent, but is not an overpowering stone for those looking to get really torched. As far as reliving symptoms I rate it’s potency an 8 out of 10. For mind-altering effects, not very powerful, and I would have to give it a 6 or 7. However, for my needs, this is my favorite meds right now.

Grower’s Notes:
This particular northern lights was grown from seeds purchased from Peak Seeds BC. They claim this version is Northern Lights number 5, crossed with another NL from europe. Out of 10 beans, 50% were male, and about 3 of the females had problems with very weak and floppy stems that could not even support the weight of the plant itself. Not the greatest numbers, but I still got two great keepers out of this batch, and selected this plant as my mother. Yield was less than staggering, but nothing to be ashamed of either. However, the medicinal value of this plant more than makes up for the issues it had. Will be keeping this one in my regular rotation for some time to come.

White Russian

Strain Name: White Russian

Genetics: AK47 x White Widow

Grade: A

Type: Mostly sativa hybrid.

Looks: Very dense dark green buds with dark orange hairs. Some purple hues sprinkled throughout, and absolutely coated with resin.

Smell: Straight up cheeze-whiz. While growing it smelled a lot more fruity, but after a month of curing, it morphed into this absolutely rank cheese and skunk smell. Take one whiff, and you know this bud means business.

Taste: Inhale tastes cheesy and spicey, exhale is very earthy and hashy.

Effects: The first time I smoked this, it scared the hell outta me. Felt totally removed from my body, almost like a half-way OBE. This mellowed out after about an hour, and was much more pleasant. Very cerebral and spacey – DO NOT drive on this one, you will run red lights (though I hope you don’t ever drive after smoking bud – take care out there folks). Pretty good appetite stimulation, and worked really well for my stomach pain. Not sleepy at all, so don’t use it late at night as it will probably keep you up. Made music EXCELLENT!

Potency: Scary powerful.

Grower’s Notes: This one yielded more than anything else in my garden. The buds were heavy and the stems kind of weak, so tying the colas up was a must. I had buds bending the branches over after only 5 weeks. Although this is sativa dominant, the plant grew very much like an indica, with rather wide leaves, and extensive branching out. The sativa showed it’s traits in a fairly lengthy stretch during the first few weeks of flowering. Easy to grow, and was very nutrient tolerant. Took doses that would burn anything else in my garden like a champ. Plant was nearly all bud, so trimming was a breeze. This was an amazing plant to grow. Seeds were from Joey Weed. Germinated 10 out of 10, with 100% females, and very little variation throughout.

Good Strain For: Daytime pain management and appetite stimulation. Quite stimulating, so not so great for sleep, but certainly helps you relax and mellow out. Probably would be a good one for depression, as it really made me happy.

Green Crack

Strain Name: Green Crack

Grade: B+

Type: Indica

Looks: Small, dense, dark green buds. Each nug is almost entirely coated in dark orange hairs.

Smell: Very fruity and almost unbearably sweet. The scent is intense, but pleasant.

Taste: Like a spring breeze. Kind of sweet and flowery, very fresh and clean too.

Effects: This bud is very down, not tiring, but down. I don’t feel like doing much of anything really. I just spent the last hour sitting here staring at my computer and out my window, just kind of enjoying what is around me. This bud works great for pain and ‘ok’ for nausea. It is a bit dazed, and hard to stay on task. When I do get on task though, I seem to be productive enough. I would not suggest this as a daytime smoke, unless you have nothing to do but burn time and weed. It is enjoyable enough, and it helps a lot with the pain, but it is a hardcore couch-locker.

Potency: Effects lasted 1-1.5 Hours

From: Patient’s Choice of Colorado

Reviewed By: In The Blue

Notes: This worked very well for my stomach pain and well for my nausea, but did not increase my appetite at all. It is very stoney and definitely locks you down to wherever you smoke it, so don’t plan on moving for a while.
