Pakistan Chitral Kush

Strain Name: Pakistan Chitral Kush (aka Purple Pakistani)

Grade: A+

Type: 100% landrace Indica

Looks: Deep purple, with dark orange hairs and deep green mixed throughout. Buds on this plant were small, but incredibly dense and heavy. Calyxes turned purple in last few weeks without cold temps, and resin production was very heavy, coating the small buds in a nice layer of crystals.

Smell: While growing smelled strongly of menthol, with a hard-to-place smell that I can only describe as stale “After 8” chocolate mints. To be honest, it was actually kind of off-putting. Once cured, the chocolate smell came out even further, and the menthol seemed to be subdued, and at this point I actually really enjoyed the smell. Very unique, and unlike any other plant I’ve grown.

Taste: Menthol on the inhale, and sandalwood/incense on the exhale. Very smooth, with moderate expansion in the lungs.

Effects: Very mellow. Absolutely no raciness or paranoia whatsoever. The first time I smoked this after a three week cure, I realized I was walking around with a huge grin on my face for about an hour. Relaxing, happy, and humour stimulating. Didn’t seem to increase my appetite all that much, so I can’t say it’s too medicinal for my purposes (Crohn’s disease), but that didn’t detract from the overall experience. This is a bud that is perfect to just relax and chill at the end of the day. Not a heavy or clumsy indica stone, and not a racey sativa, but the perfect balance between the two – even considering it’s pure indica.

Potency: Certainly the least potent in my arsenal, but not in a bad way. This isn’t a bud you would smoke if you wanted to get destroyed, but this is your ticket if you want a happy, cheerful, social smoke that isn’t going to incapacitate you.

Grower’s Notes: This was the only keeper plant out of a pack of 20 beans (from Beanho). It was an absolute whore to grow. Nothing but constant problems with deficiencies, slow growth, ph problems, etc. It was a miracle I got this one to the finish line. This is the most difficult and finicky plant I have ever grown, and I have conferred with other growers of this strain, that I’m not alone. This was the only plant to turn purple, all other phenos were very green, and not to my liking at all. Ended up cutting my losses and destroying all the other plants so I could start on something else.

With that being said, it seems that it’s an issue of poor breeding here. I have spoken with other growers who have grown this plant from Cannabiogen’s stock (the original breeder), and have had none of the problems that myself and others have had with Beanho’s seeds. Yes, this is an inbred landrace strain and as such you can’t expect the same vigour or yield as other proven hybrids, but even with that being taken into account, this plant was just too problematic to be recommended to all but the most experienced grower.

However, if you lucky enough to grow this plant, and find this rare pheno, and avoid many of the problems that I ran into, you will be well rewarded with your effort. The finished product is absolutely amazing.

grinspoon

Strain Name: Dr. Grinspoon

Grade: A

Type: 100% Pure Heirloom Sativa

Looks: The plant has a distinct flowering pattern that makes it a standout in the garden. The pure sativa heritage means Dr. Grinspoon forms long twig-like branches with the buds loosely strung popcorn style along the willowy stems. As the plants mature, they begin to fill gaps between bud sites, but the buds remain distinct rather than gathering into one large flower. Yields are moderate with harvests up to 350 grams per square meter.

Smell: The aroma has the tropical-floral elements expected of an island sativa, but there is also a distinct lemon-herbal sumac smell. These notes are carried through in flavor

Taste: Delivering a light lemon tang and a touch of honeyed earthiness.

Effects: This strain’s clarity will be manna for the true aficionado. Dr. Grinspoon has a pleasant entry into the high, inviting a blissful and expansive mood that enhances compassion and provokes intellectual insights.

Potency: 18-25%

Reviewed by: Barneys Farm Seed Co.

Good Strain For: A daytime smoke or for long evenings with friends, intimate conversations, and deep enjoyment. Given the heightened awareness it encourages, it is less suitable right before retiring for sleep. The effects of Dr. Grinspoon taper off gradually, leaving one as clearheaded at finish as they were at the outset, only quite possibly with a host of new ideas and pleasant experiences to remember.

Chem 91

Strain Name: Chem 91

From: Patient’s Choice of Colorado

Grade: A

Type: Sativa

Looks: Just looking at this, I can tell it is a pretty solid bud. The hairs are peach colored from the trichomes, and the leaves are a nice lime green tint.

Smell: It smells very diesely, even pretty dried out this little bud permeated through the room very quickly when ground. On the edge of the scent is a nice hashy smell, but it gets overwhelmed, on a deeper inhale, by the diesel scent.

Taste: This doesn’t taste at all like I was expecting. Initially, on exhale, there is a kind of metallic taste, followed by a kind of smoky flavor. It follows up with a kind of salty lemon flavor.

Effects: Very heady active buzz. It did not work on the sharper stomach pains, but my mood was definitely improved. Energy kind of felt like it radiated out from my lower head into my body and limbs. Thoughts felt accelerated to where I was having trouble keeping up with them.

Potency: While this one only lasted 4 hours, it was pretty intense for that duration. I’d have to give this one a 9 out of 10 on potency.

Good Strain For: Not wonderful for sharp pains, or sleep, but for nausea and mood enhancement it works great.

headband

Strain Name: Headband

Grade: A-

Type: Hybrid – Sativa Dominant

Looks: Buds dense and hairy, a bit spread out.

Smell: Smells like countryside greens not very dank at all.

Taste: A little bit hashy and harsh on the intake, but has a slight incense-like undertone with a strong flavor of lemon on the exhale. Both flavors stick with you after the smoke is gone.

Effects: No motor or thought retardation. Body euphorics, slightly warm muscles, not light or heavy. Very energetic, I feel like I can accomplish things in this state. Increased sensory perception. Definite mood improvement. Does not help very much for muscle pain or nausea. Helps immensely with my headache. Very red eyes, but negligible dry mouth or drowsiness.

Potency: Effects lasted 2 hours
