I am new to marajuana;I have been trying to use if for 1 year now, with very little success. I have suffered from migraines and severe whiplash for 5 years. I’ve tried every modality I can find; every drug offered; nothing works for long.
I just got a vaporizer; I could not get the hang of smoking.
I desparately need help on the type I should be using. I have tried several Indica’s; none even touch the pain. They make me have to go to bed, but then I just lay there, I cannot do anything, but…the pain is still very much alive.
If you cannot give me advice can you lead to someone who can? Our local dispensaries have been very kind, but they don’t seem to get the severe level of pain I am trying to kill.
thanx shelley

Have you tried any very strong indica strains like OG Kush, Bubba Kush, Purple kush anything close to 100% Indica?
If you have tried some very potent strains with no luck. It sounds like you may want to consider using edibles made with potent indica strains to manage the pain relief. Edibles will work when smoking and vaporizing doesn’t. The only downside with edibles is they take an at least an hour before you start to feel any relief.
For the migraines you may want to try “simpson oil” or something similar. The simpson oil or similar oil is applied topically. Usually for migraines it only takes a couple drops near the temple area to completely eliminate all the pain.

Yes I have triedd Purple Kush, Granddaddy, Blue Dream, all with no successes. They all put me to bed, but give 0 pain relief.
I have tried edibles: brownies and oil from a dispensary and brownies homemade by my son. Again, the brownies put me to bed but gave 0 pain relief. The oil was GOD awful, I had bad hallucinations, that everyone tells is NOT normal.
Where might I find Simpson Oil? Is is cannabis based?
Thanx for the reply, I need all the help I can get. shelley

You need to try what is called Honey Oil or earwax. Butane Honey Oil is about 75% THC.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Kush Creams makes a superb Emergency cream using Emu oil and Kush cannabis oils. They are available at Cannabis Farmers Markets, Mari-Meds (in Belfair) and some dispensaries in TAcoma and Seattle. I have heard excellent reports from migraine sufferers.

this is the only thing that will help with that kind of pain. smoking by nature makes a head pain worse. try a salve applied directly to your temples or pained region. thats your best bet, and if not that, there is always excedrine migraine, lol. its the only thing that works on mine. bud does wonders on all kinds of things, but bad head pain isnt one of them, well not for me atleast.

Try to get something with a 60% sativa – 40% indica that could help a lot with the pain.

I agree.I know severe pain I have Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis and I agree. Cannabis alone will not treat that pain on it’s own. You need to take an opiate pain reliever and then use the cannabis to keep the pain away once the opiates have settled it down.

I dont know where you are located but I do know a man who can help you. Dr. Alan Shackelford of Denver http://www.amarimed.com 720 532 4744
Hes a Harvard educated physican an MMJ advocate and healer. His knowledge on the subject is immense. Tell him Jans friend with the (nectarine)sent you- I
Personally I think you would benefit more from a hybrid strain that is indica dominant but combines enough sativa to create an analgesic effect from just the right combination of cannabinoids . Strong Edibles would be an option for an altrnative way of ingesting the meds. I find they provide more of a body high and last a long time.
Good luck. Dr Shackelford is a saint. Im going to name a strain after him one day.

Ah-Ha! Good name! “Sweetleaf” by Ozzy with Black Sabeth was the 1st LP i ever bought when i was in 7th grade at Cook Jr. High School in Santa Rosa Calif.where yes weed was a gateway drug for me.But let me post a fact just as true! This gateway to stronger harmful drugs is said too be cause of starting with weed opened the door on the way up too hard drugs! Well let me testify to the fact that weed is also just as much a gateway drug going back the other way. For me Cannabis as a medicine was a very high percentage of in the success of getting off of hard drugs! My cravings & desire too use & relapes after being clean for sometime was Qwelled ; nipped-n-the-Bud & hitt the pipe real fast & that would take away the cravings too the point of nonexsistance.Cannabis helped me kick Heroin about 10 years ago. Medicinal Marijuana was just as much of a help getting off of Heroin as The Methadone i’m prescribed now too help remain too stay off of heroin. But : Yes sir’e that “QUOTE” Gateway sure enough swings both ways! That Gateway too other harder drugs is just as equally a Gateway back out away from the harder drugs through that same Gateway ; only going back out the other direction. Plus that Methadone is pretty hard on stomache! Which Cannabis relieves! Hence : many senerios of needing too detox withdrawl systems can achieve much relief from eating a good portion of edibles or consuming extracts or oils etc.

But you should injest it for a more medical effect such as in something baked or a tea.Youll hear them all say Indica for pain but those F1hybrid sativas I’ve found best. 30 years of medical use experimce

I wner if you are a “backwards reaction’ patient like me? What hppens with us backwardies is that the med has the opposite reaction to what is isted for other normal patients — I like to say “Indica is for insomnia, Sativa for sleep”. So I use my indicas for day-time use, and my sativas for relaxation and for putting me to sleep.
I alo have migraines every day, all day, and they never quit. It’s been 25 years and they are just a part of life now. My headaches are caused by a weirdly healed skull fracture (from back to front, down the suture in the forehead into the brow-bone, hen south into the jaw joint. sustained in a nasty 18-wheeler accident) I hae found that accident-caused are different from “organic” migraines, and most ‘scrpt meds that work on organic migraines don’t work for accident-related ones. I have found that smoking does help sometimes for true immediate relief, but edibles may be the preferred route of ingestion for you.
Just for grins, get some really good blueberry, asnd three

Hello,
I am a certified health coach and have had mixed success with marijuana for the same ailments. It is common for headache sufferers to not get much luck with medical marijuana. I have had success with diet and supplements though. I would suggest you try taking Vitamin B2—300-400 mg/day, vitamin D—2-4,000 IU’s/day, and cut gluten out of your diet completely as well as nitrates (found in lunch meats and such), MSG, nuts, chocolate, and wine and sulfites. See how that goes. Migraines are often food-based ailments or stress. Meditation can be very helpful as well. Try Shakti Gawain’s Creative Visualization Meditations (on I-Tunes). Good luck!

Where was this documented because to my knowledge a strain cannot produce over 25% thc in a bud. The make up of the rest of the plant uses atleast 75% of that to other part.

Your Mom must like the upper strains.I myself like & need Indicas & pain killing strains. For outdoor sativas I’d found that “Super Silver Haze” grow good yields ; even multipul harvests in Sept.Oct.,Nov.,cause of how tall they grow outdoors.Indoors I’d go with “Grape Ape” or some beautiful purple strain.Purples don’t remain purple if they’re grow outdoors. After outdoor Purps dry & cure the purple color in them darkens to near blackish green;unlike it’s sister grown indoors remains beautiful bright colors

Hey everyone
So I have been suffering from chronic Insomnia for almost 7 years now and was wondering what strains would help me sleep. (I just got my medical card) I have been prescribed ambien for around 4 years and am sick of having to take it to sleep as well as the awful side effects its giving me. The problem is that whenever I smoke I get really paranoid and almost more depressed. For this reason I honestly hate being “high” but I feel that if this can get me off the ambien it would be a god send. Any help would be much appreciated. :)

And i love Grape Ape for nearly as good pain relief ; but mostly for it’s beauty & taist.Taist like Grape Kool-Aid & grown outdoors still turns purple in mid Oct. in Northern Calif.

Try taking melatonin and magnesium a couple of hours before bed. Magnesium 400 mg-100 mg/night with some calcium. Ask your doctor first. Then, no electronics or lights on for at least one hour before sleep (phone, computer, tv, etc.) No caffeine after 5pm. go to bed and wake up at the same time each day–within one hour. I am a health coach. I hope this helps. Try a Sativa strain…they can have a better affect of some people that get paranoid. Also, grand daddy purple kush should do the trick. Give it a try. :-)

Look for marijuana that is high indica because indica makes you tired. Sativa makes you more alert.

I have a nearly identical medical problem and surgery history. I couldn’t handle how the narcotics (OxyContin and Roxycodone) made me feel – like sleepwalking through a dark foggy place. My doc used Suboxone to get me off narcotics. I’ve heard horror stories but it worked as desired for me. Not wanting more narcotics, the only options left were an electronic implant that confuses the pain nerves – or a morphine pump. Ugh! I didn’t even know I was in a legal med state, and experimented for a year on my own. I quit taking 8+ other meds, and lost over 80lbs. It made detoxing from the Suboxone easier too, but it really was nothing.
Anyway… Cannabis is only helping my pain about 50-60% so far. Edibles work great (I go through hard candy like crazy), and Canna-Caps work well too (high CBD), but make me sleepy. The dabbing stuff isn’t doing much for me yet, but my disp is low on options. The best buds so far for pain are AK-47, Blue Dream and Jack Herer – but that’s just me. :) I also tend to be a “backwards effects” person, so YMMV.
[Reply]
My members with recent knee and back surgerys find great success with edibles. because they affect the body differently than smoking. Excellent for sleeping thru the night and pain control. Look for places that specialize in low to no canna flavor treats.

@Shelley: you might actually want to try a Sativa stain. I have chronic pain in my hip due to muscle damage and I realy enjoy using Sativa dominant strains. My favorite one that is out right now is called “Blue Dream.” “Sour Apple” and “Blackberry” have also proved effective.
[Reply]
@deanna: I would recommend that you try eating “medibles” also called “medicated” foods. There are some that are strong and some that are less powerful. These usually serve to give you a nice body high but leave you clear headed enough to function and generally (from my personal use) they do not produce that intense “munchies” feeling.

Hello, My name is Ann. I am not new to marijuana, my doctor recommended I use marijuana for my anxiety. But I used a strain and it made everything worse causing extreme panic attacks and lots of trauma. I did not like it at all. I was wondering if any one else shared this experience and if so what strain did you use so I can stay clear. Also has anyone had any really good experiences for very low potency strains? I want to start up very slowly again making sure I don’t go over the top again.
thank you
ann

My daughter has been dealing with Fibromyalgia for a year now. Has been on SOMA daily. Time to try a new approach. Just got her a card last night and hunted down a dispencary. Never thought I’d being doing that with one of my kids. Anyway…they gave her a rice krispie treat edible and some big daddy or some sort of indica…..no more pain but sleepy. She needs to be able to get to school and work…can’t be sleepy…stativa or whatever …..better for day use and focusing at school?
Thanks

Kelly try using Dew Drops by Dixie Elixir. I recently shared this product with my Sister who has a disease similar to Fibromyalgia and it helped get her through the day, and was able to sleep through the night. Working at a school, she is unable to take anything that gives her the high that regular pot induces. This product extracts the CBDs from cannabis but does not give you a “high” affect like THC. Have gotten positive results from people that don’t want to smoke or use traditional MJ. Good Luck
